Body Talk — Inner Conversations with Chronic Illness and Pain

When dealing with chronic pain, illness or disease, there is often a negative internal dialogue with your body and self over time. Hating your body or the disease itself, dissatisfaction with your quality of life and feelings of loss/sadness related to debility in what you can no longer do or can lead to a chronic sorrow.

 Chronic Pain and Chronic Illnesses are associated with higher levels of anger, fear, sadness, anxiety, and stress, but often fewer outward physical changes or signs.  Physical pain and Illness can have an impact on your emotional well-being and self-esteem.

Through Mind-Body Awareness, learning to dialogue with your body, you will learn to:

  • Reframe and change negative thoughts about your body and illness

  • Release energy blocks that leave you tired, depleted and in pain

  • Free yourself from emotional baggage that no longer serves you

  • and Create a new positive story about your relationship with yourself and your body, which will begin to reveal the “Authentic You.”

What is Reiki?

Rei’ ~  universal   ‘ki’ ~ life energy

Reiki (pronounced as ‘ray-key') is a energetic healing practice of transmitting healing energy through the hands.

Reiki is a subtle and effective form of energy healing which brings about healing on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.

Reiki is based on the philosophy that there is a universal energy that supports the body's inherent self- healing abilities.

Reiki Practitioners seek to access this energy, allowing it to flow to the body and facilitate the healing process.  Reiki can help the flow of this energy within the body.

A typical treatment

During a Reiki session you remain fully clothed (loose, comfortable clothing is suggested) while comfortably reclining on a massage table or seated in a chair.

Reiki treatment proceeds with the practitioner placing their hands on the recipient in various positions or by using a non- touching technique, where the hands are held a few inches away from the recipient's body.

The recipient often feels warmth or tingling in the area being treated, even when using a non-touching approach. A state of deep relaxation, combined with a general feeling of well-being is usually the most noticeable immediate effect of the treatment.

Reiki is about you....

You can use Reiki as a wonderful complementary therapy in a personal wellness or healing program. Reiki is intended to be used to improve your own personal wellness - not just illness.

Reiki is used for stress reduction, relaxation and symptom relief in efforts to improve overall health and well-being and it is almost always a very relaxing experience. Reiki works effectively alongside orthodox health-care and natural remedies, expanding your treatment  options.

I offer Reiki with a 30 minute or 60 minute session option.  Each session will begin with a brief check-in and end with a sharing of the experience.

Anxiety, Worry and Stress

Anxiety is typically a useful feeling or emotional state, however, it can become the source of problems that feel all too consuming.

When the symptoms of anxiety last for days or months, it can become overwhelming and lead to us feeling lost and disconnected from ourselves and our relationships, leading to disruption in your life.

Typical anxiety symptoms include:

  • Physical responses to stress

  • Negative thoughts, feelings or emotions

  • Behaviors that feel helpful in the moment, but lead to problems later or the benefits don’t last long

I work with people with various stressors in their lives. I do my work by focusing on helping you find relief and offering practical ways to manage your anxieties and better understand the sources.

By helping you reduce the barriers of anxiety in your life, you can learn to be free from the grip of anxiety and find inner peace.

Some ways that I work with anxiety include:
